You have 6.72 seconds to make an impression when attaching your CV to a job application.

If you haven’t hooked in your reader after 7 seconds, your CV is going straight on the “no” pile.

Let me illustrate this through one of my least favourite activities — shopping.

Imagine walking into TK Maxx (or TJ Maxx if you are in the USA 🇺🇸).

You are presented with a warehouse-sized cavern crammed with racks of clothes as far as your eye can see. 👚👖👗🥻

You get to the bags and they are hanging 6 deep on every hook. 🎒👝👜🧳

At least the shoes are organised by size, but you WILL find a pair of heels in between some strappy sandals and some hiking boots. 🩰👠👢🥾

Everything is out on display.

Now step into your designer boutique of choice.

I named Prada in the title, you may prefer Gucci, Chanel or Ferragamo.

They have a curated range of merchandise on display.
